What is The Swiss System Format?

The Swiss System Format was first used at a chess tournament in Switzerland in 1895. The tournament is held without elimination, in each round, starting from the second, pairs of opponents are selected so that the participants who scored an equal number of points meet each other. Due to this, games between opponents who are obviously incomparable in strength are excluded from the tournament. The biggest advantage of the Swiss system is that it allows managing a small, compared to the circulatory system, number of rounds with a large number of participants.

Other Popular CS:GO Tournaments to Practice Before Elisa Invitational Fall 2023

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championships

Known simply as “majors”, this is one of the most popular among the CS:GO tournaments. “Majors” championship is sponsored by Valvo, a company that developed Counter-Strike. CS:GO Tournaments

CS:GO S-Tier Events

Formerly known as the Premier tournament, S-tier events gather the best players from around the globe. The tournament is held in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. In 2020, the prize pool reached $2,000,000.

CS:GO A-Tier Events

There are several top teams that compete under the A-Tier. The most famous are CS:GO Minor Championships and Regional Major Ranking events. A-tier events take place in Europe, North and South America, Middle East, and China.

CS:GO B-Tier Events

The B-tier events are for more minor scales. The prize pool in these events often ranges from a few to tens of thousands of dollars. The best teams also get an opportunity to compete for the title in major tournaments.

CS:GO C-Tier Events

The money awards for this tournament are less appealing than in the tournaments mentioned above. It’s because these events are also known as “Minor Tournaments” and, as a rule, don’t attract much of an audience. As a result, sponsors don’t feel like seriously investing in these tournaments. If you’re an amateur gamer looking to take your skills to a new level, X-tier events are a platform for you.

Intel Extreme Masters

These events are held everywhere in the world and are sanctioned by the ESL and sponsored by Intel. The prize pool is around $1 million. During the season, the event takes place in the USA, Europe, China, Australia. As usual, the final takes place in Poland. Undoubtedly, the IEM is an integral part of the competitive video gaming world.
