DreamHack Open September 2023 North America Overview

The upcoming DreamHack Open September 2023 event is looming, and we will be taking a dive into the North America section of the event. It’s worth noting that there are also South America and Oceania segments of the DreamHack Open September 2023 event. The North American segment takes place from September 22nd-26th 2023.

Although the teams competing at the event are still to be confirmed, this preview will break down everything you need to know about the event. We will also take a look back at how last year’s event went down to help prelude what to expect this year.

DreamHack Open September 2023 North America Breakdown

If you’re wondering why no teams are confirmed for the event yet, it’s because there are still two Open Qualifiers to be played, as well as a Closed Qualifier. There will be eight teams in total attending the event, six of which are invited based on performances throughout the season, and the final two spots are earned by teams that battle through the open and close qualifiers.

DreamHack Open

Open Qualifier Format

The first open qualifier has sixteen spots and will be played out in a single-elimination bracket. All matches are a Best of 1 series, with the final qualification matches being a Best of 3. The top two teams from the open qualifier, earn a spot in the closed qualifier. The same format exists for Open Qualifier #2 being that a total of four Closed Qualifier spots can be earned through the Open Qualifiers.

Closed Qualifier Format

As mentioned above, four teams from the Open Qualifiers earn places in the Closed Qualifiers. Here they will meet four invited teams and battle it out for final places at the DreamHack Open September 2023 North America.

The Closed Qualifiers will then have eight teams in total playing out a double-elimination bracket with the top two teams earning spots for the big event. All matches are Best of 3, so there shouldn’t be any flukes and there will be some great matches ups.
