On Thursday, August 19, 2023, Polish tournament organizer, Fantasyexpo, which is tasked with hosting one of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown’s regional qualifiers, announced details about its upcoming Fall Cup.
Fantasyexpo released details about the Fall Cup’s scheduled date, the participating teams, and invited teams in the announcement. It also released information about what the Cup’s winner stands to win.
When Is BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023 Scheduled to Start?
Fantasyexpo announced that the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023 will begin on September 7 and end on September 9.
Which Teams Will Partake in the Event?
In its announcement, Fantasyexpo revealed three invited teams will feature in the tournament. The invited teams are the 69th-ranked PACT and the 100th-ranked Illuminar. The third slot for invited teams goes to one of Western Europe’s highly-ranked teams. The identity of this team is yet unknown and would be announced later.
Meanwhile, five spots are up for grabs for teams who qualify from sub-regional, national, and open qualifiers. These five teams will come from the following qualifiers:
- The French Qualifier
- The UK & Ireland Qualifier
- The EU Open Qualifier
- The DACH Qualifier
The French Qualifier begins on August 27 and end on August 28. The participating teams include DBL PONEY, LDLC, and two teams that will emerge from the opening qualifiers. These participating teams then slug it out for the sole spot, guaranteeing their participation at the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023.
The UK & Ireland closed Qualifier takes place from August 28 to 29. It features two invited teams, Endpoint and Feenix, and two other teams joining from the open qualifiers.
The DACH region includes teams from the following countries:
- Germany
- Austria
- Switzerland
- Liechtenstein
The DACH qualifier is a more extensive system than other qualifiers. Hence, it takes longer than most other qualifiers for the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023. It takes place from August 23 to 27. The participating teams include NLG and ttc, who will compete in the qualifier’s first phase. Meanwhile, Sprout will enter the second phase, which is to be a double-elimination phase.
There will be two European Open qualifiers. They will take place from August 31 to September 1 and September 3 to 4.

What Is the Format for the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023?
The event will have a Group Stage and Playoffs. The Group Stage involves:
- Two double-elimination (GSL) Groups
- Each Group comprises four teams
- All group matches will be based on the Best of 1 (Bo1)
- The top teams from each group will make it to the Playoffs
The Playoffs will involve:
- Single-elimination bracket
- All matches will be based on Best of 3 (Bo3)
What Is the Prize Pool for the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023?
The event winner will earn a spot in the BLAST Premiere Showdown, which is scheduled to take place later in the year. By qualifying for the Premiere Showdown, the winner of the BLAST Fantasyexpo Fall Cup 2023 stands a chance of claiming part of the $162,500 prize pool. In addition, the winner will also get the chance to progress to the Fall Final and World Final.
